The 4 th event of the project “Old Towns, New Results” took place in Alimos, Greece, on 16 – 18 of October 2019, organized by the Alimos Municipality.

16.10.2019 we started the 4th event of the project!


The 4 th event of the project “Old Towns, New Results” took place in Alimos, Greece, on 16 – 18 of October 2019, organized by the Alimos Municipality. The meeting was attended by the project partners: (a) Victoria Municipality - partner coordinator (Romania) (b) Alimos Municipality (Greece), (c) Commune di San Cassiano (Italy), (d) Podes-Association For The Promotion Of Sustainable Development, (Portugal), (e) Association for Development of Voluntary Work, Novo Mesto (Slovenia), and (f) Municipality of Cheste (Spain).

The topic of the 4th meeting was the presentation of the functioning of the European Union and the involvement of the European institutions in the decision-making process in the European Union. The event took place at the Alimos Municipal Council Meeting Room.


During the event, the European Union institutions and their role in decision-making in the Union, as well as the "Ordinary Legislative Procedure" were presented and analyzed. In the Role Play Game that followed the participants "invited" the European Commission to submit legislative proposals on specific issues in the context of a "European citizens' initiative".

In addition, during the 4th meeting the European Parliament was presented in detail and its contribution to the promotion of democracy and human rights was analyzed. At the Workshop, participants were divided into groups and proposed measures to increase citizen participation in European elections and active citizenship at European level.
