The third event of the project “Old Towns, New Results” took place in Lisbon, on 03-05 of June 2019, organized by the members of PODES Association.

03.06.2019 we started the third event of the project!


The third event of the project “Old Towns, New Results” took place in Lisbon, on 03-05 of June 2019, organized by the members of PODES Association. The event topic was “The Future of Europe”, starting from the White Paper of the future of Europe. The location was ensured by Instituto Superior Técnico from Lisbon.

The event started on 03 of June 2019 with an opening ceremony leaded by the Portuguese coordinator, Maria Rebelo, followed by a project presentation held by Lucian Corobuta. The event continued shaping a conference with both local actors and international participants that talked about Future of Europe, Erasmus+ and opportunities for youngsters.


The invited local actors were:
1. Dra.Maria Teresa do Rosário Damásio representative for Instituto Superior de Gestão
2. Dr. João Faria – EU representative;
3. Dra. Marta Santos – NAFSA presentation.

The Romanian delegation attended with 5 people. Other participants from partner countries attended to the event, namely: Spain, Italy, Greece, Slovenia.

On the second day of event, the participants attended to a workshop structured on 2 main parts: discussion panel and SWOT analysis of the 5 case scenarios foreseen in the White Paper of the future of Europe.

The first part – the discussion panel – started from the evolution of technology and the influences that electronic voting can have. The participants shared their opinions regarding the topic.

The second part – the SWOT analysis – started from the conclusions of the conference that was held a day before regarding the five case scenarios of Future of Europe. The participants were divided in 5 groups and each of them sketched out the SWOT analysis of each case scenario. Representatives of each group presented the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threads found by the group members.
The international participants had a tour guide in Alfama, place presented by António Barreto Batista, and the dinner was entertained, among others, by Cláudia Duarte – Fadista – and Filipe Rebelo – Fado Portuguese Guitar player.
On the last day of event, PODES provided a tour in Sintra and the participants visited Quinta da Regaleira, a palace built in the early twentieth century, with gardens and underground passages, chapel and museum.

Project partners
